Ibex 35 nears 20,000 points as oil prices plunge

The Spanish Ibex 35 index rose about 1 % to between 19,940 and 19,983 points, leaving it within a few dozen points of the 20,000‑point psychological barrier. The rally was driven by a sharp fall in oil prices – Brent crude slipped to the low $80s per barrel, a drop of roughly 4‑8 % – after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a suspension of new attacks on Iran pending an agreement with Arab states.

The market breadth was broad: Acerinox posted gains of around 3‑4 %, Santander rose about 2 %, and other leaders included Indra, Inditex and Amadeus. Conversely, Acciona and Solaria fell roughly 3 % each. European peers such as Paris, Frankfurt and Milan also posted gains, while London declined. Analysts linked the oil‑price decline and easing geopolitical tension to the Ibex’s advance toward the 20,000‑point mark.
