Spain's Ibex 35 rises on US‑Iran peace hopes, oil price drop
The Ibex 35 opened higher on Tuesday, gaining 0.21% to a record 19,072.9 points as news of a tentative peace agreement between the United States and Iran lifted market sentiment. The agreement is expected to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Brent crude to fall about 0.5% to roughly $83 per barrel and U.S. WTI to trade near $80.
Company stocks moved in opposite directions: Indra posted the strongest rise (+2.2%), while BBVA and ACS also posted gains, and Rovi fell 0.6% behind a near‑3.8% drop in Telefónica ahead of its dividend payment. The Spanish 10‑year bond yield eased to 3.375% and the euro held around $1.159 against the dollar. The following day the index slipped marginally to 19,160.7 points, down 0.02%, as oil prices slipped further below $80 and investors awaited the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting. Indra announced a new CEO, Josep María Recasens, and Airtificial confirmed it will produce 800 parts for four Thai‑ordered Airbus C295 military transports.
