Spain's Minimum Income Benefit reaches 860,458 households in June

In June, Spain's Ingreso Mínimo Vital (IMV) covered 860,458 households, comprising 2,627,344 people. The average monthly payment was €507 per household, bringing the total monthly outlay to €465.7 million, an increase of 16.8% compared with the same month a year earlier. The number of active benefits rose by 123,591 (16.8%) and the total number of beneficiaries grew by 373,943 (16.6%) over the previous year.

Women represented 68% of IMV holders and accounted for 53.4% of all beneficiaries. Children made up nearly 41% of the total recipients, with more than 1.6 million minors having been covered by the scheme since its inception in 2020. Over two‑thirds of beneficiary families have children, and 144,960 households are single‑parent, predominantly headed by women.

In the Community of Madrid, the program assisted 71,098 households (218,584 people) in June, a slight decline of 0.32% in households versus May but a 19.9% rise over the previous year. The share of households with minors rose to 42.4%, and foreign‑born recipients accounted for 21.4% of beneficiaries. The Complemento de Ayuda Para la Infancia (CAPI) was paid to 600,076 households, averaging €67.1 per child and €122.3 per household with children.
