Spain's Ministry of Culture Announces 2026 National Reading Promotion Awards

The jury for Spain's 2026 National Reading Promotion Awards has recommended two laureates. The literary prize "San Clemente" from the IES Rosalía de Castro in Santiago de Compostela will receive the award for its thirty‑year track record of fostering critical thinking, artistic sensitivity and reading habits among students. The other award will go to Luis Miguel Gómez and Miguel Ángel Hoyos, directors of the television program “Un país para leerlo” on La 2, recognized for its original style and its literary journeys across the country's geography.

Each prize carries €30,000 and is intended to honor individuals or organisations that have made outstanding contributions to encouraging reading, either through direct educational activities or media outreach. The San Clemente prize is evaluated by a jury of secondary‑school students from Spain, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, highlighting the programme’s international educational collaboration.
