Spain's Ministry of Housing commissions housing market barometer study
The Spanish Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda has tasked the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS), led by José Félix Tezanos, with carrying out a "Barometer of Housing 2026". The study, budgeted at up to €288,000, aims to gauge public opinion and expectations on housing purchase, rental, tourist apartments and foreign investment, and will be completed by 30 November 2026. The agreement, signed on 17 June by subsecretary Pablo Torres Paniagua and CIS president Tezanos, provides the Ministry with a €144,000 contribution, with the CIS handling technical direction. Results will be analysed by sex, age, municipality size, education, occupation and subjective social class, among other variables, to inform future housing policy.
The barometer will also examine how opinions vary with voting memory and declared ideology, allowing the Ministry to assess the reception of current policies and design targeted measures.
