Spain's Moaña and Gijón negotiate land transfers for public housing and hospital expansion

The state-owned asset manager Sareb has agreed to meet with Moaña mayor Leticia Santos to discuss the free transfer of seven parcels in the As Raíñas area of A Xunqueira A‑2. The parcels, previously listed for sale, are intended for the construction of 289 public‑housing units. Moaña officials are also seeking a three‑way meeting with the Galician Institute of Housing (IGVS) and the Xunta's housing department to finalize the agreement.

In Gijón, the municipal government will bring to the regional cabinet an agreement to transfer about 5,000 m² of land known as "Peñas de Matarifa" in Cabueñes. The parcel, acquired in a 2023 swap with Fundación Siloé, is slated for the expansion of the Cabueñes public hospital and the construction of access roads. The transfer is expected to be completed before the end of the year, following a court ruling that cleared a related dispute over a separate health‑sector land deal.
