Spain's National Police launches recruitment for 2,854 new officers
The Spanish Official Gazette (BOE) has published the 2026 recruitment call for the National Police, offering a total of 2,854 positions. Of these, 2,704 are for the Basic Scale (2,163 open to civilians and 541 reserved for armed‑forces personnel with at least five years of service) and 150 for the Executive Scale (inspector rank).
Applicants have a 15‑day window to submit their documents, with an additional 10 days to remedy any exclusions. The selection process remains unchanged: written tests, physical exams, medical assessment, interviews and psychotechnical tests, followed by training at the National Police School. The written exam is scheduled for 26 September 2026. Eligibility requirements include Spanish nationality, being at least 18 years old, no serious criminal convictions, a secondary‑school diploma (or equivalent), an A2 level in English or French, and a category‑B driver’s licence. Successful candidates will earn an initial gross salary of around €1,900 per month after the training period.
