Spain public sector recruitment 2026

Overview

In July 2026 the Spanish government released a series of recruitment announcements for public‑sector positions. On 10 July, the Official Gazette advertised 2,854 new National Police officers, outlining basic‑scale and executive‑scale posts, eligibility requirements and a written exam scheduled for 26 September.

A week later, the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration confirmed that 5,547 permanent civil‑service posts under the IV Collective Agreement were being offered. The vacancies cover 126 specialties—including maintenance, driving, nursing assistance, museum attendance, graphic arts, physiotherapy, laboratory work, kitchen management, hairdressing and choir singing—and are distributed across 10 ministries, with the Defence Ministry providing the largest share (1,341 posts). A dedicated allocation of 301 places is reserved for applicants with intellectual disabilities. Applications are submitted electronically via the model‑790 form.

On 31 July, the Boletín Oficial del Estado opened a separate call for the Gestor Administrativo profession, with an application window running until 1 October 2026. The position targets university graduates in law, economics or social sciences, requiring a 250‑question multiple‑choice test and a practical case on various areas of law. Officials highlighted the role’s growing importance as digitalisation and AI tools reshape public administration, positioning the profession as a pathway to independent work and a key element in ensuring legal security between citizens, companies and public bodies.
