Pedro Sánchez under fire as Feijóo and Ayuso intensify political attacks
Opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo accused Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of an “obsession” with Madrid president Isabel Díaz Ayuso, saying Sánchez humiliates PSOE members in a recent Congress speech and urging him not to give “lessons”. Feijóo also labeled Sánchez the “corrupt nexus” and called for a motion of censure.
Ayuso retook her viral slogan “me gusta la fruta”, warned that Sánchez has “the hours counted”, and directly insulted the prime minister, adding to the ongoing confrontation over funding, policy and governance.
Sánchez responded by denouncing a pattern of “harassment and derailment” targeting his wife Begoña Gómez and brother David, blaming false information and prolonged judicial procedures. He rejected using the floor to defend his family, saying the courts will decide.
In parallel, internal PSOE communications circulated praising Sánchez in hyper‑loyalist language, likening him to a cult figure, after a judge ordered the withdrawal of Gómez’s passport. The messages reflect heightened factional tension within the governing party.
