Antena 3 to End ‘El Rosco’ on Pasapalabra and debut new final test
Spain’s Supreme Court ruled that the final round of the game show Pasapalabra, known as “El Rosco”, is a protected work belonging to the Dutch firm MC&F. The decision obliges Atresmedia’s Antena 3 to cease broadcasting the Rosco segment. The last Rosco aired on Thursday 18 June, and on Friday 19 June the programme will launch a new, undisclosed final challenge while retaining host Roberto Leal and the rest of the format.
Mediaset (Telecinco) has secured the rights to “El Rosco” and plans to feature it in a separate programme, meaning the iconic round will continue on a different channel after the summer. The change ends a 26‑year run of the Rosco on Antena 3 and sets a precedent for intellectual‑property protection of TV game‑show elements in Spain.
