Spain's People's Party faces election surge as Feijóo's rental in El Viso draws scrutiny

Leader of the opposition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, lives in a 244.57 m² rental apartment in the upscale El Viso neighbourhood of Madrid that belongs to a bank executive. It is unclear whether the People's Party (PP) or Feijóo himself pays the rent, and the matter was raised by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez during a parliamentary session. Feijóo responded that the publicity of his address offended him, citing his nine‑year‑old son as part of his defence.

A post‑election poll by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) shows the PP winning the recent Andalusian regional election but falling short of an absolute majority. The survey projects that in a future general election the PP would obtain 25.6 % of the vote in Andalusia, narrowing the gap with the PSOE to about three points (22.8 %). The poll also notes that Vox would remain the third force with 12.9 % and that other minor parties would receive only single‑digit support. The PP is negotiating a governing pact with Vox, and its regional leader Juanma Moreno is expected to be invested for a third term.
