Spain's PP accuses PSOE of double game on fertilizer policy

Carmen Crespo, the national coordinator for Agriculture and Rural Development of Spain's People's Party (PP), charged the ruling Socialist government of Pedro Sánchez with delivering a "double discourse" on fertiliser costs. She said the government announced a domestic fertiliser aid plan while PP Members of the European Parliament blocked a proposal to temporarily suspend the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), a measure that could lower fertiliser prices if applied. Crespo argued that the European vote contradicts the Spanish announcement, stating, "La agricultura necesita decisiones útiles, no discursos vacíos," and adding, "Esa incoherencia la pagan siempre nuestros agricultores." She claimed the PP has consistently defended Spanish farmers, urging the suspension of CBAM in crisis situations to ease the 60% price surge affecting producers.
