Spain's PP pushes for snap election and ministerial resignations amid corruption probes

PP vice‑secretary for territorial organization Miguel Tellado used a rally in Pontedeume, Galicia, to intensify the opposition’s call for an early general election. He argued that the current legislature no longer has the political backing to continue and urged citizens to decide the composition of parliament through new polls.

Tellado also demanded the resignation of several senior officials under judicial investigation. He highlighted that there are "126 indictments versus 121 deputies" supporting the government, calling it unacceptable for the director general of the Guardia Civil, the interior minister, and the head of the state holding company SEPI to remain in office while under probe. The PP’s stance links these investigations to a broader push for political accountability and a vote of confidence for Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s cabinet.

The party’s campaign seeks to portray the government as weak and to pressure Sánchez to call elections and replace implicated officials.
