Spain's PSOE lauds new funding for Dependence Law and rebukes Beatriz Jiménez

The Spanish government has increased its contribution to the Dependence Law system to about 40.4% of total financing, with a target of exceeding 50% in 2027. The boost is expected to raise the number of people receiving benefits, cut waiting lists by more than half and improve home‑care services. PSOE spokesperson Javier Alfonso Cendón said, "The Government of Spain demonstrates with actions that dependence is a priority – not promises, but more funding, more people served and more rights for those who need it most."

At the same time, the PSOE criticised PP deputy Beatriz Jiménez, candidate for mayor of Cuenca, for refusing to support the reform, describing her stance as a "policy of no". The party argued that the changes will set maximum deadlines for case resolution, create urgent procedures for the most vulnerable and promote home‑based care, benefiting older adults, people with disabilities and their families.
