Spain's PSOE presses for accountability in Cospedal‑Villarejo probe and Mallorca official car misuse

The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) welcomed the Audiencia Nacional's decision to investigate recorded conversations between former People's Party (PP) secretary‑general María Dolores de Cospedal and former police commissioner José Manuel Villarejo. The party urged current PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo to respond, linking the case to the broader "Kitchen" corruption scandal and calling for full responsibility.

Separately, the PSOE filed a criminal complaint in the Balearic Islands against Pedro Bestard, the second vice‑president and regional minister for Environment, Rural and Sports in Mallorca. The complaint alleges that Bestard used three official vehicles for private trips without proper authorization, citing irregularities such as missing documentation, unrecorded journeys, and the removal of institutional markings. The party seeks an investigation into possible misuse of public funds, prevarication and falsification of documents.

Both actions reflect the PSOE's broader push to expose alleged corruption and misuse of state resources within the PP and regional administrations.
