Spain's Puertollano and HolyAuto promote eclipse viewing events for August 2026

HolyAuto has launched a national "Eclipse" campaign to distribute 50,000 certified glasses for the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026. Participants can scan a QR code on the glasses, register online and enter a draw for €5,000 in spare‑part vouchers. The registration period runs from 1 August to 11 September, with the prize awarded on 12 September 2026.

Calatrava Desconocida is offering a paid "Eclipse Experience" in Puertollano, where participants will hike to the Chimenea Cuadrá, view the eclipse with provided certified glasses, and enjoy a toast. The activity continues after the eclipse with a night‑sky programme that includes the Perseids meteor shower. Admission is €15 for adults and €10 for children under 12, and includes insurance, guided interpretation and post‑eclipse relaxation.

Both initiatives use the rare astronomical event to drive commercial engagement and tourism in Spain.
