Spain's regional airports break passenger records in H1 2026

Spanish airports recorded strong growth in the first half of 2026. Aena reported that airports in Andalusia handled more than 20 million passengers between January and June, an 8 % increase over the same period in 2025. Malaga–Costa del Sol alone saw 13.2 million travelers, up 6.7 % year‑on‑year, with international traffic leading the rise – the United Kingdom accounted for 2.9 million passengers, followed by Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. Sevilla airport reached 5.27 million passengers, a 9.8 % jump, while smaller airports such as Almería, Jerez, Granada‑Jaén and Córdoba also posted double‑digit growth.

In Asturias, the Santiago del Monte airport logged its best month ever in June with 215,742 passengers, a 12.4 % month‑on‑month rise. The airport reached a total of 1.037 million passengers in the first half of the year, 8.6 % higher than in 2025, and now serves 30 direct destinations. New service by Wizz Air to London‑Luton, Madrid and Valencia was introduced, expanding the airport’s connectivity.

Overall, the data underline robust demand for both domestic and international travel in Spain, driven by tourism, business trips and recent airline expansions.
