Spain's regional renewable energy programmes face pending subsidies in Soria and new community projects in Castilla‑La M

In the Castile and León province of Soria, 70 of the 729 approved self‑consumption projects remain unreleased two years after the application deadline of 31 December 2023, representing about 10 % of the total aid. The pending cases involve roughly €300,000 of grant money, while the regional authority has so far disbursed €4.282 million for the programme, which covered 1,198 applications totalling €28 million in planned investment.

Separately, the autonomous community of Castilla‑La Mancha is accelerating the rollout of energy communities, announcing a €10.6 million funding line for July to support 56 municipal and neighbourhood projects. The initiative, backed by the regional government and UNEF, aims to broaden shared renewable generation, reduce electricity costs and encourage citizen participation. Over 800 collective projects operate across Spain under the recent Real Decreto‑ley 7/2026, and the new funds are intended to bolster technical advice, training and financing for these local schemes.
