Spain's RFEF seeks to extend Luis de la Fuente's contract to 2030

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is negotiating to extend the contract of national team coach Luis de la Fuente, potentially keeping him in his position until 2030. RFEF President Rafael Louzán confirmed that discussions are underway to move beyond the current 2028 expiration following Spain's victory in the 2026 World Cup.

Louzán praised De la Fuente's leadership and work ethic, noting that the coach has become one of the most successful figures in Spanish football history. The federation president also expressed a strong desire for Spain to host the final of the 2030 World Cup, which is being co-organized by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, stating that Spain should serve as the epicenter for the tournament's centennial celebration.
