Spain's electricity prices surge in July 2026
On 13 July 2026 the Iberian electricity market recorded a sharp jump, with the wholesale price reaching 124.96 €/MWh – about 73 % higher than the previous day. The daily peak exceeded 200 €/MWh, hitting 205.42 €/MWh between 22:00 and 23:00, while the cheapest hour was 13:00‑14:00 at 50.98 €/MWh. The day’s price curve showed high levels from midnight to 09:00, a steep fall to a midday low, then a gradual rise and a late‑evening spike.
The regulated PVPC tariff also climbed, surpassing 176 €/MWh on 10 July, and the market continued a trend of elevated prices across the first half of July, with average daily rates around 84 €/MWh – still higher than the same period in 2025. Consumers are advised to avoid high‑consumption appliances during the evening peak (20:00‑23:00) to mitigate their electricity bills.
