Spain's Tax Agency launches Verifactu digital invoicing and expands call‑center support for 2025 tax filing
The Spanish Tax Agency (Agencia Tributaria) will make the Verifactu digital invoicing system mandatory for freelancers and companies beginning in 2025, requiring electronic recording of all invoices. The new Verifactu logo has been widely criticised by designers as chaotic and unprofessional, with concerns that it harms Spain’s visual identity.
For the 2025 income‑tax campaign, the agency partnered with Telefónica Spain and used a cloud‑based contact‑center platform built on Zoom technology. The system processed more than 7 million interactions, handling 637,000 calls on the busiest day and achieving a 99 % technical success rate, thereby supporting taxpayers and agents nationwide.
