Spain's Toledo Province Faces New Forest Fire in Navalcán

A new forest fire was declared on Monday in the municipality of Navalcán, located in the province of Toledo, Spain. The regional fire prevention and extinction device activated an operation using three aerial units, three ground units and a total of 23 personnel to contain the blaze.

The fire adds to an already extensive blaze in northern Toledo, which has already burned about 2,000 hectares and forced the evacuation of eleven municipalities: La Iglesuela del Tiétar, Sartajada, Almendral de la Cañada, Buenaventura, Navamorcuende, Real de San Vicente, Hinojosa de San Vicente, Castillo de Bayuela, Garciotum, Nuñogómez and Pelahustán. High temperatures and the risk of re‑ignition keep emergency services on high alert, and the Spanish meteorological agency (AEMET) forecasts another week of intense heat across Castilla‑La Mancha.
