Spain's water reserves dip below 75% amid drought

Spain's overall water reserve has fallen to 73.4% of its total capacity, a loss of 1,082 hm³ (‑1.9%) compared with the previous week, according to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition (MITECO). The nationwide storage now totals 41,110 hm³, with especially low levels in the Atlantic and Mediterranean catchments.

In the Tajo river basin, the Entrepeñas and Buendía reservoirs have declined to 58.87% of their combined capacity, down 19.86 hm³ during the week of 6–13 July. Entrepeñas now holds 550.57 hm³ (68% of its maximum) and Buendía 931.94 hm³ (55% of its maximum). Other reservoirs in the region show mixed changes, with slight increases at Almoguera and Bolarque and modest losses at Alcorlo, Beleña, Pálmaces, La Tajera and El Vado.
