Spain's wholesale power price hits 29.55 €/MWh on June 12, lowest since May 24

On Friday 12 June 2026 the average wholesale electricity price in Spain fell to 29.55 €/MWh, marking the fourth consecutive daily decline and the first time the price dropped below 30 €/MWh in June. According to the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE), this is the lowest level since 24 May, when the price was 26.32 €/MWh. The day featured eight consecutive hours with near‑zero or negative prices between 09:00 and 18:00, reaching a minimum of –0.05 €/MWh at 16:00‑17:00, while night‑time rates surged to a peak of 113 €/MWh between 21:00 and 22:00.

The following day, Saturday 13 June, the average price rose to 45.19 €/MWh. The cheapest hourly window was between 09:00 and 12:00, offering consumers the most significant savings. Analysts note that European electricity price trends continue to be driven by international gas prices and the cost of CO₂ emission allowances.
