Spanish authorities investigate Guardia Civil officers in separate incidents
Two distinct legal matters involving the Guardia Civil have emerged in Spain. In Granada, the prosecution has requested to archive a case against four officers whose patrol cars were caught speeding by a fixed radar while responding to a reported robbery at 3:00 am. While Spanish regulations allow priority vehicles to exceed speed limits during emergencies, they must still drive with due care. The Unified Association of Guardia Civil Officers (AUGC) noted that the proceedings caused professional and personal difficulties for the officers involved.
In a separate incident, a member of the Organización Juvenil Socialista (OJS) was detained in connection with an anti-fascist graffiti incident on November 20, 2025, targeting a mass held for Francisco Franco and José Antonio Primo de Rivera in Simat de la Valldigna. The individual is among 14 youths previously indicted in relation to events in Pego in 2020. During the detention, the Guardia Civil searched the individual's home, seizing electronic devices, notebooks, and organizational materials. The individual's lawyer described the police action as “completely disproportionate.”
