Spanish cities grant municipal honors to local cultural figures

The Benalmádena City Council unanimously approved the start of a dossier to award the title of Adoptive Daughter to Remedios Herrero Moyano, recognizing more than six decades of service in education, cultural promotion, and public life. Mayor Juan Antonio Lara highlighted her lasting impact on generations of residents and praised her commitment to the community.

In Granada, Mayor Marifrán Carazo announced a proposal to the municipal Honors Commission to posthumously award the Gold Medal of Merit to flamenco guitarist Pepe Habichuela (José Antonio Carmona Carmona). The city intends to honor his exceptional artistic career and his role in promoting Granada’s cultural heritage worldwide, with plans for his burial in the city as per his family's wishes.
