Spanish regional awards honoring local figures

In late July 2026, the University of Seville hosted its eighth University, Woman and Business Awards, recognizing six women and a sports club for achievements in science, technology, entrepreneurship, culture and sport. Benalmádena’s city council approved a dossier to name Remedios Herrero Moyano an Adoptive Daughter for her six‑decades of service in education and cultural promotion. In Granada, officials proposed a posthumous Gold Medal of Merit for flamenco guitarist Pepe Habichuela, celebrating his artistic legacy and plans for his burial in the city. Together, these events illustrate an ongoing emphasis on celebrating regional leaders, cultural icons and community contributors across Spanish cities.
