Spanish climbing team heads to Barcelona for European Championships

The Spanish national climbing squad will compete in Barcelona from 17 to 19 July 2026 at the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya. The venue will host the World Climbing Europe Championship in bouldering and the World Climbing Europe Series in speed, making it a focal point of the season.

The men's roster includes Erik Noya Cardona, Miguel Gómez Barrios, Alberto García Rodríguez de Sepúlveda, Oriol Codina Pineda, Alejandro Rivas Domínguez, Darío Andrés Ruiz, Unax Uterga Flamarique and Alejo Bernabé Fernández. On the women’s speed side, Leslie Romero Pérez, Carla Martínez Vidal, María Laborda Sagaste, Leire Ruiz de Argandoña Otano, Nora García Maestu, Julia Pacheco Porras and Haizea Pinto Ilincheta will represent Spain. Coach Iván Terricabras noted that most athletes have already raced on the World Cup circuit and are eager to perform in front of a home crowd.

Spanish climbers such as Guillermo Peinado Franganillo and Manuel Antonio Pasto also feature in the bouldering line‑up, while the competition will attract athletes from Ukraine, Austria, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, Slovenia, Australia and other European nations.
