Spanish coastal towns implement assisted bathing for mobility-impaired residents

Municipalities in Spain are implementing assisted bathing services to improve beach accessibility for people with reduced mobility. In Lloret de Mar, the service utilizes amphibious chairs, adapted equipment, and personal assistance to help users, including the elderly and those recovering from injuries, enter the sea safely.

In Vigo, the Samil beach accessibility plan provides support through hydraulic cranes, amphibious crutches, and specialized chairs. The Association of Families of People with Cerebral Palsy (APAMP) utilizes these municipal resources to organize regular visits to the beach, allowing members to experience the water despite physical barriers.
