Spanish Congress dissolution leaves 213 deputies eligible for compensation

Following the dissolution of the Spanish Congress, 213 deputies will be eligible for transition compensation. Depending on their constituency, departing members can receive a single payment ranging from approximately 7,300 to 9,600 euros. This amount is calculated based on 52 days of salary and parliamentary activity allowances.

Additionally, deputies who do not seek reelection and meet specific criteria—including having spent at least two years in Parliament and having no other income—may apply for monthly benefits of up to 3,366.99 euros for a period of up to two years following the November 29 elections.

Only 137 individuals will retain deputy status during the interim period, including the 68 members of the Permanent Deputation, their substitutes, and the President of the Chamber, Francina Armengol. The new Congress is expected to be constituted no later than December 24.
