Spanish Congress rejects PSOE proposal on Feijóo's asset disclosures
The Spanish Congress has rejected a non-legislative proposal from the PSOE that sought to require the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to provide more detailed disclosures regarding his income and how he pays for his residence in Madrid.
The original initiative by the PSOE specifically targeted Feijóo following a parliamentary debate where President Pedro Sánchez challenged him to reveal the costs of his housing. However, the proposal was revised by the Congress Board to remove direct personal references to Feijóo to comply with parliamentary regulations. Despite the revision, the motion was defeated by a coalition of votes including the PP, Vox, PNV, and UPN, with abstentions from Junts and CC. The PSOE received support from Sumar, ERC, Bildu, Podemos, Compromís, and BNG.
