Spanish consumers increasingly compare prices to combat inflation

A study conducted by Ipsos for Amazon reveals that 90% of consumers in Spain compare product prices before making a purchase. This practice is estimated to generate savings between 5% and 10% per transaction.

Driven by rising living costs, 95% of Spanish consumers report that the cost of living has increased over the last twelve months, with 39% stating the rise has exceeded 15%. The data indicates that price comparison has shifted from an occasional habit for large purchases to a routine part of weekly shopping.

Online shopping is a primary tool for these savings, with 44% of respondents stating that internet purchases help them save on regular goods. This trend is particularly strong among younger demographics, including 53% of those aged 18 to 25 and 48% of those aged 26 to 45. Categories such as fashion, electronics, and travel see the highest frequency of price comparisons due to significant price fluctuations between retailers.
