Spanish Court Extends Secret Proceedings in Soria Corruption Probe, Vox Joins

A Spanish judge has extended the secrecy of the investigative proceedings in the Soria municipal corruption case, known as Operation Fuentona, for an additional month. The extension allows the right‑wing party Vox to participate as a popular accusation, making it the first time the party has been admitted in this role.

The investigation, launched after a Guardia Civil raid on the town hall on 23 June, focuses on alleged prevarication, influence‑peddling, document falsification, unlawful contracts, money laundering and links to a criminal organization. The raid resulted in the detention of councillor Yolanda Santos and six others connected to the company Biosfera. The court’s decision was confirmed by the Castilla‑León High Court, noting that secrecy can be renewed month‑by‑month.

The case continues to develop as prosecutors examine the municipality’s contracts with Biosfera and the involvement of former mayor Carlos Martínez Mínguez, who now leads the PSOE opposition in the regional parliament.
