Spanish courts dismiss corruption cases against local mayors

A judge in Dos Hermanas dismissed the criminal complaint filed by Vox against former mayor Francisco Toscano and former senior official Francisco Salazar, concluding that there was insufficient evidence of embezzlement, influence‑peddling and prevarication, and noting that any alleged offenses were time‑barred.

Separately, the Seventeenth Chamber of the Provincial Court of Seville acquitted Gines mayor Romualdo Garrido in the La Pará case, ruling that no crimes of prevarication, embezzlement or falsification were proven and that the irregularities identified amounted only to administrative infractions. Garrido said, “Han sido 10 años muy duros, pero ya ha pasado todo.” Both decisions close long‑running investigations into alleged municipal corruption.
