Spanish courts sentence individuals for animal cruelty and real‑estate fraud
In Alicante, a woman from Torrevella was sentenced to one year in prison for the death of her dog, which had been tied to a sunny terrace for several days in August 2022, causing heatstroke and fatal organ hemorrhages. The plea deal also includes a four‑year ban on any activities involving animals and a prohibition on keeping pets at her home.
In Lleida, two men received nine‑month prison terms, suspended on condition of good behaviour, after being convicted of aggravated fraud for selling an apartment on the Idealista portal that did not belong to them. The victims, a couple, had advanced €20,000 and were later compensated an additional €15,000. Both convictions were upheld by the Audiencia Provincial of Lleida.
