Spanish cultural institutions undergo architectural and programmatic transformations
Cultural institutions in Spain are undergoing significant transformations. In Móstoles, the Museo CA2M is implementing the CA2M+ project led by Pedro Pitarch. This initiative focuses on a “typological correction” of the existing building, adapting spaces to accommodate new activities and diverse audiences. The renovation, which currently covers approximately 1,000 square meters of the ground floor, includes opening the entrance area to the street and simplifying the reception area through a multifunctional, mobile structure.
In Cantabria, the Faro Santander has opened as a new cultural reference point. The center aims to connect art, technology, and community participation. Its inaugural exhibition, “Obras maestras de la Colección Banco Santander,” features works spanning five centuries, including pieces by masters such as Titian, El Greco, Rubens, Goya, and Frida Kahlo. The museum is designed to serve as an interactive space for exhibitions, music, and social engagement.
