Spanish Culture Minister Ernest Urtasun urges probe into alleged Israeli torture of Spanish flotilla activists

Culture Minister Ernest Urtasun asked Spain's prosecutor‑general to open an investigation before the Audiencia Nacional into alleged torture of Spanish members of the Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli forces. The activists, intercepted by Israel while sailing toward Gaza, were described by Urtasun as victims of "piratería" and "torturas".

Urtasun also called for the suspension of the European Union‑Israel association agreement, calling its continuation "a disgrace". He criticised the governing People's Party and Vox, asking: "¿Qué tienen que decir el Partido Popular y Vox cuando Netanyahu tortura a nuestros conciudadanos?" and accused them of "silencio absoluto" on the matter.
