Spanish exchange students remain in Mexico after student murder
Following the murder of Spanish student Claudia Tacoronte in Cuautla, Morelos, 32 students from universities in Castilla y León have chosen to remain in Mexico to complete their academic exchange programs.
Universities in the region have maintained contact with all students abroad, offering counseling and support in the wake of the incident. Despite the tragedy, none of the exchange students have requested to return to Spain early.
Specifically, the University of León has four students currently in Mexico, located at the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla and the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila. The University of Valladolid has three students in the country, including those at the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente in Guadalajara and the Universidad Iberoamericana de Puebla.
