Spanish film awards set new eligibility criteria for upcoming editions
The 19th Premios Gaudí announced that submissions must be made by 22 September and will only accept Catalan productions that meet minimum participation thresholds – at least 20% of a Catalan‑based company or 10% with sufficient Catalan talent – and require a declaration on the use of generative AI tools, with possible disqualification for violations. The Academy may request supporting documentation on AI usage.
The 32nd Premios José María Forqué opened its call for entries until 5 October, inviting Spanish‑produced feature films, documentaries, animation and short films, as well as a category for the best Latin‑American film. Awards will cover best long and short feature, best fiction series, best interpretation, and a prize for cinema and education in values. All entries must be at least 60 minutes long, except short films capped at 30 minutes, and must be of Spanish nationality, with limited exceptions for co‑productions involving Latin‑American countries.
