Spanish award programmes updates

In late July 2026 Spanish cultural and youth award bodies issued new calls and revised rules. The 19th Premios Gaudí set a 22 September submission deadline and introduced eligibility thresholds – at least 20 % participation by a Catalan‑based company or 10 % with sufficient Catalan talent – and required a declaration on the use of generative AI tools, with possible disqualification for non‑compliance. The same day the 32nd Premios José María Forqué opened its entry period until 5 October, inviting Spanish‑produced features, documentaries, animation, short films and a category for the best Latin‑American film, with specific length requirements and limited co‑production allowances.

Separately, the Diputación d’Alacant extended the submission window for the 22nd Provincial Youth Awards to 14 August, encouraging candidates aged 14‑30 to submit projects in business, music, short mobile film, narrative and digital photography for a total prize fund of €18,000. In parallel, the nonprofit Fundesplai launched a new edition of its Inclusió Jove programme in El Prat de Llobregat, supporting young people with intellectual disabilities or mental‑health diagnoses through training, job‑placement assistance and emotional support.

Both announcements reflect a broader trend of Spanish organisations tightening eligibility criteria, adapting to emerging technologies, and extending opportunities for young talent across cultural and social sectors.
