Spanish firms Leche Pascual and Stellantis announce layoffs
Leche Pascual has opened an employment regulation file (ERE) to dismiss 80 workers at its Gurb plant in Osona as the facility prepares to be transferred to Casa Tarradellas, which plans to convert it to mozzarella production. The company says it has offered individual job proposals and aims to protect employment, while the workers’ committee claims the closure lacks justification and fears the new activity will jeopardise jobs.
Stellantis has filed an ERE affecting 175 employees at its Villaverde plant near Madrid and will also use a temporary ERE (ERTE) for 89 workers between August and year‑end. The cuts are attributed to lowered production forecasts ahead of the start of manufacturing Chinese Leapmotor electric‑vehicle models in Spain. Union representatives say the plant’s future is secured by the new projects despite the current workforce reduction.
