Spanish food fairs in Las Pedroñeras and Cartaya celebrate garlic and shrimp traditions

The International Garlic Fair (FIDA) took place in Las Pedroñeras, Castile‑La Mancha, from July 24‑26, 2026, marking its 52nd edition. Regional Agriculture Minister Julián Martínez Lizán attended, reaffirming government support for the sector and emphasizing water security for the region’s leading garlic production, including the protected IGP Ajo Morado. Highlights included a national cooking contest judged by Michelin‑starred chef Rubén Sánchez and free music festivals.

Meanwhile, the Cartaya Shrimp Fair ran from August 5‑8 in the province of Huelva. Organized by the Hermandad de San Isidro Labrador, the four‑day event combined culinary celebrations with charitable fundraising, backed by the Cartaya town council. The fair featured continuous open hours for dining and aimed to boost local social and economic activity during the summer peak.

Both fairs illustrate regional authorities' commitment to promoting traditional agri‑food products and supporting local economies through cultural events.
