Spanish frigate ‘Álvaro de Bazán’ completes UNITAS naval exercises

The Spanish frigate ‘Álvaro de Bazán’ has completed its participation in the UNITAS LXVII-2026 multinational naval exercises. Organized by the Peruvian Navy, the exercises took place throughout September in the Pacific waters and the Amazon region.

As one of the world’s oldest and most traditional naval exercises, UNITAS aims to increase interoperability and regional cohesion among the navies of the Americas and allied nations. The 67th edition involved approximately 26 ships, 2 submarines, and 21 aircraft from 24 different countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, and the United States.

The training covered various domains, including air, surface, submarine, and amphibious operations. Specific activities included humanitarian aid, cyber defense, high-altitude diving, and the use of unmanned vehicles. Following the conclusion of these operations, the ‘Álvaro de Bazán’ has begun its journey back to its home base in Ferrol, Spain.
