Spanish Government authorizes Grenergy battery storage in Cuenca

The Spanish government has authorized Grenergy to construct four battery storage facilities at its existing photovoltaic parks in Cuenca, specifically within the Altarejos complex. The four plants, named Aitana, Aspe, Bañuela, and Turbón, will each provide 21.69 MW of power and 43.38 MWh of storage capacity.

In total, the battery installations will reach a combined capacity of 86.76 MW of power and 173.52 MWh of storage. These systems are designed for two-hour storage durations and will be hybridized with the solar installations already in operation. The project aims to utilize existing evacuation infrastructure, connecting to the Complejo Altarejos 132/30 kV substation via medium-voltage underground lines to reach the Villanueva de los Escuderos 400 kV substation.
