Alberto Núñez Feijóo addresses rural women in Toledo amid election debates
In Toledo, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president of the Partido Popular (PP), participated in a national event organized by AFAMMER to mark the International Day of Rural Women. Addressing over 400 women, Feijóo emphasized the importance of rural leadership and proposed economic measures including reduced bureaucracy and adapted agricultural taxation to combat depopulation.
As the November 29 elections approach, pension sustainability has become a central campaign issue. While Vox members have suggested systemic changes, the PP has faced internal scrutiny after some representatives made controversial claims about the system's viability. Feijóo has since clarified that pensions are ‘innegotiable.’
In response to the political debate, Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo stated that the government intends to approve a pension increase in December. This adjustment, expected to be approximately 3.6 percent, follows the publication of November inflation figures to ensure recipients see the increase at the start of the new year.
