Spanish Guardia Civil commander Rubén Villalba testifies on Leire Díez's request for compromising info
Rubén Villalba, commander of the Spanish Guardia Civil, appeared as a witness before judge Santiago Pedraz in the "case Koldo" investigation. He confirmed that he met twice in March 2025 with former socialist activist Leire Díez, who sought compromising information on commanders of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Armed Institute.
According to the UCO report, Díez claimed contacts with "the higher levels" of the government and offered various benefits, allegedly including a possible destination outside Spain, in exchange for the information. Villalba rejected the proposal, stating it was not convincing. The probe, led by Judge Pedraz, examines a suspected scheme to disrupt judicial proceedings affecting the government and the PSOE, allegedly coordinated by Díez and former socialist leader Santos Cerdán.
