Spanish local governments earmark €790,000 for road upgrades in Almería and Lorca

The Diputación Provincial de Almería will invest roughly €500,000 to improve two roads in the municipality of María. The project includes a 1,055‑metre urban stretch on the A‑317, featuring new paving, widened sidewalks and better pedestrian access, as well as a 330‑metre rural section of the Camino La Peguera that will be resurfaced and widened to aid local traffic and agricultural use.

The Lorca City Council is allocating close to €290,000 for rural road works in the villages of La Hoya, Tercia and Campillo. Contracts have been awarded for the repair of the Camino Casa‑Castillo and Camino La Colonia (€44,000), the refurbishment of sections of the Camino Cartagena (€75,000), and the resurfacing of the Camino Quijero (€170,000), covering a total of about 4.5 kilometres. The upgrades aim to enhance safety, accessibility and mobility for residents, farmers and recreational users.

Both initiatives are part of broader municipal commitments to modernise local infrastructure, improve road safety and support the daily movement of people and goods in their respective regions.
