Spain’s minister Óscar López accuses PP of “whitening” Vox and defends Guardia Civil chief

During a visit to Almagro for the 49th International Festival of Classical Theatre, Spain’s minister for Digital Transformation, Óscar López, said the People’s Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo had "turned the PP into a party indistinguishable from Vox" and accused him of "whitening" the far‑right formation.

López criticised the PP’s defence of the Ley de Nietos, calling the party’s claim that the law was an electoral‑census manipulation a "conspiracy theory" and warning that such rhetoric "undermines the rule of law and Spanish democracy." He added that Spain has "one of the strongest electoral systems in the world."

He also defended the continuity of Guardia Civil director Mercedes González, saying the institution was damaged by the past Operation Kitchen and that the current government is "clean" with no state operations. López affirmed full governmental support for González, stating "Mercedes González is an extraordinary director of the Guardia Civil, with all the backing of the Government."
