Spanish Ministry of Culture grants 30 million euros to film projects
The Spanish Ministry of Culture has awarded 30,735,600 euros to 31 feature film production projects for 2026. These subsidies, drawn from the Film Protection Fund of the ICAA, are distributed across seven autonomous communities.
Two million euros of the total funding is designated for two film projects to be shot in the Canary Islands. Among the 31 beneficiaries, 30 are fiction films and one is a documentary. Notably, 20 of these are international co-productions, accounting for 64.21% of the total allocation.
In an effort to reduce the gender gap, all beneficiary projects include at least 40% female technical staff. Furthermore, nine projects are written and directed exclusively by women, representing 29.03% of the total. Regional distribution shows Catalonia receiving the highest amount with 7,815,600 euros, followed by the Community of Madrid with 6,920,000 euros.
