Spanish Ministry of Defense restarts 1.47 billion euro fuel contract
The Spanish Ministry of Defense has resumed a major tender process for a fuel supply contract valued at up to 1.476 billion euros. The procurement process, which aims to provide gasoline, diesel, and kerosene for military vehicles, ships, aircraft, and base heating, had been stalled for months due to a legal challenge.
The Central Administrative Court of Contractual Appeals (TACRC) dismissed an appeal from Overseas Energies, which had claimed a technical error prevented its participation. The court ruled that the error was the responsibility of the company itself, leading to the lifting of the temporary suspension.
The contract is divided into 11 lots. Major energy companies, including Repsol, Moeve, and Disa, are competing for the supply rights. The initial budget for the contract is 765 million euros through July 2029, with the possibility of two extensions that could extend the agreement until July 2031.
